They're one of Dave's favorite bands for a reason!
They just brought out their new album "Med sud i eyrum vid spilum endalaust" (With A Buzz In Our Ears We Play Endlessly), which can be listened to FULLY on their website. there, you can also listen to their new single "Gobbledigook", and you can watch the video that goes along with it, because it contains so much nudity that they can't show it on youtube. MTV only shows the video late at night. They do however show a edited video to it.

Watch that clip here:

So has anyone listened to any of these songs yet? I can listen to "Gobbledigook" forever! And "Festival" is absolutely amazing, with the ascent at the end. I'm not familiar with all of their albums, but I do notice that they sound more instrumental and less electronic. Most songs, like on their previous album Hvarf/Heim, have of lot of computer generated eerie sounds, whereas this one sounds a lot more natural. They also made a lot of usage of a boys chior, which can be heard in various songs and also been seen on their youtube channel.
Other songs like "Med sud i eyrum" and "Inni mér syngur vitleysingur" really get me going, but I don't like "Gódan daginn" and "All alright" that much, they just don't sound finished to me.

So let me know what you guys think...

Depeche Mode's founder admitted it doesn't quite feel right confronting his 13-year-old daughter about her heavy makeup and dyed hair.

Daniel Miller talking about Martin:
“Martin’s a non-confrontational person, so he tends to let things go unless he feels really strongly about it. We used to call it the Arsenal syndrome, because he told this story once. When we started working together we had that usual conversation about which football team do you support and he said, ‘I suppose I support Arsenal.’ I said, ‘What do you mean?’ He told me he used to go with his friend’s dad but added, ‘I must admit I haven’t really enjoyed it for the last five years but I really didn’t want to say anything, so I’ve kept going.’ That sums up Martin completely. He doesn’t deal with things. He’d prefer to be bored every Saturday afternoon rather than upset somebody by saying he didn’t want to go. It’s quite a sweet kind of thing really.”

My dear lord, I can't believe this thread was posted over an year ago and I only notice it now! I ADORE Sigur Rós! This band is a very rare talent and it's quite good to see that they get a lot of recognition, because they deserve it completely.

Uhm, I'm not very fond of their new album though... it's surely a great record but for Sigur Rós' standards it's a bit average... well that's that's just my opinion :/ I'm keen on their earlier stuff (my favourite album of theirs is Von, no matter what people say)
Though I must say, 'Inni mér syngur vitleysingur' is one of the catchiest songs I've ever heard. I can listen to it on repeat for ages! I even learned the lyrics by ear, heh heh :D And in fact I'm going to post it here, I might get someone else hooked on it:

Btw, Jonsi (the leadsinger) released a side project album too, it's called 'Riceboy sleeps' and I highly recommend it ;)

I bought the solo side project ablum without listening to it first, and it definitely sounds different from the usual Sigur Rós. It's much more ambient, with this almost angelic euphoria to it. It's hard to describe, but I like it!

Yeah I was really bummed that no one was replying to this thread... :)

I think I get what you mean! I was expecting it to be like the usual Sigur Ros material too but it didn't turn out this way, it's definitely different and I liked that. Surprises are good :)

Haha, to be competely honest this was one of the last places I expected to find a Sigur Ros thread...

Say Linda, have you seen their DVD called 'Heima'? I think it's an incredibly well done piece of cinematography, not only is it a documentary about the band but a film about Iceland as a whole. It's really touching.

No, I only saw the trailer that they have on Youtube, but it seems a beautiful film. I'd love to watch it one day.
